The New Istanbul Airport is one of the most important aviation center projects that will push Turkey’s role in the aviation sector to the top…
The new Airport Traffic Control Tower of the New Istanbul Airport was designed by Pininfarina and AECOM who were inspired by the figure of a “tulip” which bears cultural significance in Turkish history and has been the symbol of Istanbul for centuries. It was awarded the International Architecture Prize in 2016 among 370 other projects in a contest which was organized by Chicago Athenaeum Architecture and Design Museum, and European Centre for Architectural Art Design and Urban Studies. When completed, it will be visible for all passengers who fly above it thanks to its height of 90 meters and 17 floors.
Due to its expertise on energy efficiency components and solutions, Helvar products are used in the lighting applications and lighting control systems of the tower which has a closed area of 6 thousand meter square. Along with the other systems, the lighting automation infrastructure is in an ongoing process.
In order to enable manual control for users, addressing modules and classic key groups are included in the system where emergency kits are monitored and centrally reported on DALI.
The tower system will be monitored by the airport central control unit and it will be checked under the operator authorization.
